SDN/NFV Architecture for IoT Networks

Authors:

Ángel Leonardo Valdivieso Caraguay, Patricia Jeanneth Ludeña-González, Rommel Vicente Torres Tandazo and Lorena Isabel Barona López

Abstract: Since the appearance of the Internet of Things concept the research community has been focused on how to allow an efficient communication and data analysis of millions of devices connected to Internet. However, the current efforts have not enough in order to cover the IoT requirements and challenges. In recent years, technologies like SDN, NFV, edge computing, among others, have been pushing not only traditional networks but also the IoT environments. One of the main concerns is to ensure the quality of the services provided by IoT devices, for its purpose the decouple of data and control plane, the virtualization of network functions, advanced data analysis capacity and the ability to share and put closer the services are considered promising characteristics for this kind of environment. This paper presents an architecture that integrates SDN and NFV focused on IoT environments and a proof of concept to enhance the quality of services. The experiment takes advantage of the controller capabilities in order to modify QoE/QoS flows in real time by means the configuration of SDN-App.

IoT in Services for Communities in the Recognition of Plates with OpenCV-Python

Authors:

Liliana Enciso, Roddy Yaguana, Renzo Jaramillo and Elmer Zelaya-Policarpo

Abstract: The evolution of the technology day by day advances looking for greater comfort for the users, facilitating the daily living, allowing to reduce times, costs and resources, the advance of the technology allows greater learning. The application was designed with the objective of controlling vehicular access to the UTPL by recognizing the plaque, only the teachers and staff that have access can enter, in this way it will prevent people outside the university from entering. Periodic control of all income was taken to the university and that way a statistic can be drawn from the people who really belong to the university.

Body of Knowledge on IoT Education

Authors:

Pablo Alejandro Quezada-Sarmiento, Liliana Enciso, Hironori Washizaki and Wilmar Hernandez

Abstract: The Internet of Things (IoT) has taken an important boom in different areas of knowledge, especially in education. The inclusion of new technologies has impacted the education sector and changed the ways of teaching. Thus, the curricula that are taught in the context of engineering and knowledge areas should be aligned to such change. In this paper, an information mapping was carried out as a scientific methodology to establish the base elements to create a book of knowledge (BOK). This information mapping is aligned with IoT for a standardized education.

Smart Office: Development of a Mobile Application for Android with Firebase Services Oriented to GroupMe Messaging

Authors:

Liliana Enciso, José Guarnizo, Edisson Torres and Pablo Alejandro Quezada-Sarmiento

Abstract: The courier service GroupMe is born for the need to manage instantaneous messages for groups of persons in particular, especially the chat the public enjoys good reputation in general. Nevertheless, it plays a fundamental role in the growth and Internet expansion. The applications of courier service GroupMe have taken big part of the market and have turned into a tool of work more and more used in personal, professional, social ambiences and into emergency situations. The mobile application under the name of the messaging FriendsChats GroupMe: Account with a service provided by Google called Firebase, which allows you to store the information in the cloud quickly and safely. In view of the fact that applications that offer the same service of communication have been developed with primitive tools such as the cloud storage (no security), for this reason it is advisable to implement Firebase, the same that provides read / write rules, avoiding new safety rules. The project was carried out in O.S. Android with the participation of two specialists: a functional development and another one of the interface. Implementing Firebase to Android, any information that is entered in the database is synchronized with different devices with the application.
